Applicants with one or more years of experience must have verification of one year of tractor-trailer experience within the last three years.
2. Applicants Don’t Have a Doubles Endorsement
Applicants must have a Doubles Endorsement or must obtain one to be considered for a position
3. Failing to Submit a Drug Test on Time During the Background Application
A negative drug test is required to be considered for employment. Many applicants may pass all of the job requirements of the background check, but fail to get the drug test done, and before it expires in 30 days. Additionally, delaying getting the drug test done reduces the opportunity for a position, whereas it may be offered to others who completed the background steps in a timely manner.
4. Failing to Grant Consent and Access to the FMCSA
During the background check, applicants are required to grant consent to access to their FMCSA account. This is required first before employment verifications will be conducted.
5. Incorrect Contact Information that Prohibits Employment Verifications from Being Made
Before applying to a position, contact the Human Resource Department of your previous employers to determine the correct person that provides employment verifications, along with their phone number and email address. It is also helpful to keep an updated resume or record of your past employers with this information, along with the accurate starting and end dates with each employer.
6. Not Responding to Emails in a Timely Manner to Keep the Process Running Without Delays
Employers seek applicants who are responsive, responsible, and on time with application requests. If you are applying to multiple positions, keep a log of the companies you are applying to, their contact information, and any notes from communications. Checking your email inboxes daily is paramount for any requested information the application process requires. This is the most significant reason applicants don’t get through the background check. In second place, is failing to take the drug test.
